A gloomy day in Bangalore and an hour and a half before the match is slated to begin, the rain Gods begin their downpour. Almost 2 hrs of heavy rain and the ground is completely drenched. More importantly, if the match does not happen, chances of RCB qualifying for the play-offs get a hit. On the other hand if RCB win, they jump to the 2nd spot in the points table.

With so much counting on this match, rain did stop and the ground staff did tremendous job to dry the ground and at last the game began with 15 overs a side. Murali Vijay won the toss and chose to field. Gayle finally found form in his previous match that was a plus for RCB. Both Gayle and Virat started off well as they scored 63 runs in the first 6 overs. Gayle and Virat continued to hammer the bowlers as Virat scored his 4th 100 of the season. Gayle also scored his first 50 in IPL 2016. In the end RCB scored 211 runs at the end of 15 overs in a rain-hit game.

Murali Vijay started off with positive intent in the first over but lost his wicket early. Saha and Amla couldn’t stay for long either as both of them lost their wicket in the quest to increase the scoring rate. No other batsmen could even stand up to a huge total like 212 in 15 overs and atleast one wicket began to fall in almost every over. In the end, KXIP 92 runs of the last over and rain interfered again, however it was obvious that RCB had already won by DL Method.

Here’s a look at some interesting numbers and stats from this match –
