IPL 2016: SRH vs DD – Another player enters the 3000 club in IPL

Sunrisers Hyderabad have been this season and a lot of credit goes to their bowling and captain David Warner. SRH are currently top of the table and Delhi Daredevils are on 5th. DD to have been impressive this season. The experience of Indian stars like Dravid and Zaheer Khan seems to have done the trick.
Delhi Daredevils won the match and chose to bowl, this time, it was JP Duminy who called the toss as Zaheer Khan was rested as a part of their rotation policy and a slight niggle. One team for whom the toss doesn’t really matter is SRH as they have done well while defending too. Warner and Dhawan started off well and scored 51 runs in the powerplays. But once these two got out, only Williamson got a start. None of the other batsmen could really make the best use of the start they were provided with. As a result, SRH could manage only 146 runs in their 20 overs.
147 was a good target considering the bowling attack SRH has. DD lost Mayank Agarwal early as he got out in the 4th over. de Kock played his natural aggressive game to keep SRH on the back foot. After de Kock was dismissed, it was young blood – Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant who took the responsibility to take the team through and comfortably did.
Here’s a list of some interesting numbers and stats from this match –
3000 mark for David Warner – David Warner becomes 2nd overseas player after Chris Gayle to complete 3000 runs in IPL. On the whole, he is the 8th player to reach this mark. His opening partner Shikhar Dhawan is also close to reaching this mark in this season of IPL.
500+ in 3 seasons – Warner also becomes 2nd player in the history of IPL to score 500+ runs in 3 consecutive seasons of IPL. While Gayle was the first to do it in 2011-12-13, Warner has done it in 2014-15-16.
2nd hit-wicket of the season – After Yuvraj Singh, Deepak Hooda becomes a 2nd player this season to be dismissed by a hit wicket, to add more – both players are from SRH. Overall he is the 7 victim of hit wicket in IPL history.
Rotation Policy or Opening Issues – Including today’s match, DD in their previous 5 games have had 5 different pairs of openers. Is this a part of team management’s rotation policy or the search to find the right combination only one of the team members can answer.
DD move to No. 3 – With a win against SRH, DD now move up to the 3rd spot in the league table.
