IPL 2017 Match 10th, Mumbai Indians v Sunrisers Hyderabad – Mumbai Indians Predicted XI

Mumbai Indians will look continue their sizzling form when they face the in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 10th match of the IPL 10. The Mumbai franchise opened its points tally with a spectacular win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium.

They are once set to challenge a strong opponent at their home and considering the way they performed in their previous game, it seems the upcoming game will be a hot clash between two top class and in-form sides. Both sides have contrasting positive and negatives.

In short, the upcoming match can be perfectly billed as the contest between MI’s explosive batting line-up and SRH’s mighty effective bowling department.

Previous encounter:

The last time when these two met, which was in the previous season, MI ended being in an embarrassing situation with SRH claiming an easy victory in the lop-sided game. They looked like complete amateurs playing against the high-quality SRH bowling line-up.

Ashish Nehra and Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets apiece, Barinder Sran snapped two while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Moises Henriques grabbed one wicket each to steam roll MI for just 92 runs during their chase of 178, losing the match by 85 runs.

It was a complete failure of MI batting after the bowlers failed to contain SRH’s batting powers. The decision to bowl first proved instantly wrong as the SRH openers Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner got going and put up 85 for the first wicket. Yuvraj Singh’s later fireworks ensured there was a challenging total on the board. The MI bowling attack was simply smothered that day.

There is no difference between the head to head records of both the teams as both teams stand equal at 4-4 in the historically. Until the 2015 season, MI held a clear 4-2 advantage over SRH. However, the Hyderabad side beat Mumbai in both the meetings during the 2016 edition, thus bridging the gap.

Recent Form:

Despite winning only one out of their two fixture, MI’s recent form, at the moment, may raise concerns in the SRH camp. Their young brigade looks pretty determined to make an impact and seem to be carrying a must-win attitude.

SRH bowling attack, which is almost the same as it was last year, might face their first bad day at work if the likes of Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Nitish Rana get acts together once again. These names have emerged to be the most dangerous ones.

Skipper Rohit Sharma is also yet to perform and may take the upcoming opportunity to join the run scoring brigade. The bowling has looked functional. It has managed to stay above average and is yet to bow out an opposition completely. Lasith Malinga and Co. must be looking forward to accomplishing it in the upcoming game.

Win-loss Record:

WLLWL (Most recent first)

Talking Points:

Hardik Pandya will be the man to watch out. The 23-year-old has played finishing knocks in both the matches. The unbeaten knocks of 35 against Rising Pune Supergiants and 29 against Kolkata Knight Riders were gems. If SRH fails to tackle him in the right way, then MI might just gain an upper hand over the proceedings on the match day.

The Purple Cap holder, Rashid Khan, is the latest bowler from the SRH camp to grab the headlines. His leg breaks and well-disguised googlies were a bigger talking point that the entire SRH v Gujarat Lions fixture. Mustafizur Rahman, 2016 edition MVP for SRH, is also expected to be available for the upcoming match. The return of the wily left-arm fast bowler will surely add more zing to the contest.

These two along with the others like Nehra and Bhuvneshwar Kumar pose a serious threat to MI batting order. As told before in the piece, it will be MI’s batting versus SRH’s bowling. The equation is as simple as that, as a matter of fact.

Predicted XI:

Talking about the lineup, Mumbai Indians will not make many changes. Their unit is finding a rhythm and look complete. Therefore, they are likely to play with the same XI that defeated KKR.

Here is the XI:

Parthiv Patel, Jos Buttler, Nitish Rana, Rohit Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell McClenaghan, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah.
