Before the start of the 2017 Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore have suffered a huge setback as their foreign recruit Mitchell Starc has pulled out of this year’s tournament.
With the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and KL Rahul in their ranks, the Bangalore-based franchise has enough firepower to decimate any bowling attack and they have done it on a consistent basis. However, bowling has always been their nemesis. During the last season, RCB’s top-order was in divine form and made up for their bowlers’ poor show with some extraordinary batting displays. However, in the end, their poor bowling cost them the title as they finished second behind Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Losing one of the best bowlers in the world has only made matters worse for them. Bangalore missed the services of Starc for the entirety of the last season after the bowler suffered an ankle injury but there is no denying the fact that his addition would have made them one of the front-runners for this year’s title. But RCB would look to move on quickly and eye an apt replacement for the left-arm pacer during the auction, which will take place on February 20. So here are the three bowlers who have the potential to replace the Aussie quick.
