Former Australian fast-bowling spearhead Mitchell Johnson bolstered the side’s bowling attack after being bought for 6.5 crores in the 2014 auction. Johnson was in his prime at that time and walked into the side after a stellar performance in the 2013 season with his previous IPL side Mumbai Indians, for whom he took 24 wickets in 17 matches that season. His debut season with the Punjab side was fruitful as he snapped 17 wickets in 14 matches. He proved to be a huge catalyst in Kings XI Punjab’s best IPL team performance ever in a season.
