IPL 2017: Angry Glenn Maxwell Storms Out Of Press Conference 1

A furious Glenn Maxwell cut short his media interview, as he made clear his frustration after a journalist asked him an unkind question following his team’s heavy 51-run loss at the hands of Delhi Daredevils, at the Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium on Saturday night.

Chasing an imposing total of 188, the Kings XI Punjab batsmen fared poorly, as they were restricted to 137 for nine in the allotted 20 overs. It was the second defeat in a row after Glenn Maxwell’s men had begun the tournament with two consecutive wins over Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiant respectively and the captain decided to attend the post-match presser himself.

However, the conference turned out even more forgettable for the newly-appointed skipper when a journalist asked him about his batting against spin bowling.

The question did not go down too well with the hard-hitting batsman who recently scored a hundred in the Border-Gavaskar series and was looking in good touch in the first three matches of the tournament.

“That’s a shocking question,” an unimpressed Maxwell replied to the query. “Do you understand in the last three games I’ve hit leg-spinners for six repeatedly? “S*** question.”

Well, one cannot criticise the Australian batsman for his reaction to that question. After impressing one and all during the recently concluded Test series against India where he handled the Indian spinners quite brilliantly, the right-handed batsman has looked in his elements in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

In the first two games of the season, he scored 44 (20 balls) and 43 (22), to guide his team to victories. He followed it up with 14-ball 25 run knock against Kolkata Knight Riders before falling for a duck in the last game against Delhi Daredevils.

His strike-rate of 193 is the best in the league right now while he is also second in the list of most sixes with nine maximums to his name.

Overall, he has scored 59 runs off the 32 deliveries that he has faced from seven different spinners with the help of fives sixes and four fours.
