Usman Khawaja (RPS) – Last year, Usman Khawaja was called by Rising Pune Supergiant after injuries to their mainstay batsmen Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis. He played six games last year and he scored 127 runs.
This year, he was hopeful of getting more games due to the fact that few of the players were to leave IPL midway due to national duty but till now, he hasn’t been even a single chance and now possibility of getting him an opportunity looks bleak.
Probably, his torrid form in Asian conditions is the main reason behind this as Khawaja, who use to punish bowlers in his home conditions, failed poorly in Australia’s tour to Sri Lanka last year. His struggle against spin was completely exposed and thus skipper Steven Smith did not give him a chance.
