IPL 2017: We Are Expecting Mustafizur Rahman To Join Us On April 7, Says Tom Moody
Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody has said Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is expected to join the franchise on April 7 after playing the final match of the two-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Media reports were suggesting that the pace sensation’s availability for the upcoming season was in doubt as he was yet to receive the nod from his board. However, Moody said that they are yet to hear anything official and so they are expecting the bowler to join the team after the series ends in Sri Lanka.
“At this stage, we are expecting him to come. We have not had any official word in any other way. We are expecting him to be here on (April) 7th. Unless we hear differently from BCB, we will continue to expect him,” he said.
The left-arm pacer nonetheless will miss SRH’s season-opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 5.
Moody said his team is under no pressure for being the defending champions.
“To me, it’s not just another chapter, actually another book. So, I am not concerned about last year of anything. Just proud of what the players achieved last year,” he told reporters.
“Warner is 100 percent fit and he would soon join the team shortly from Australia, where he is spending quality time with his family,” the former Australia batsman said on the availability of the team’s captain David Warner.
Moody also said that his team is very excited about their new foreign recruits- Rashid Khan Arman and Mohammed Nabi. Nabi and Rashid have already proved their worth at the international stage by being the top-two highest wicket-takers in last year’s World T20 and Moody said his team is looking forward to work with them.
“We are really excited about both Nabi and Rashid. Both have terrific, not only couple of months but over a year of form. Both add a lot of variety to the squad. Rashid is obviously a pretty unique leg-spinner. We welcome both of them and look forward to working with them,” he said.
