IPL 2017 Final: RPS v MI - RPS Player Ratings 1

Steve Smith – 8.5/10

Steve Smith was the last ray of hope for Pune tonight. He carried the responsibility to take the team past the finishing line with great intent but luck deserted him when he needed it the most. After initially struggling to get settled, Smith managed to get in the groove and keep the chase alive with his occasional boundaries and sixes.

However, the dot balls at the early stages hurt him very badly as the pressure mounted on him after the loss of Dhoni and Tiwary. With 12 needed off the final over, he had no option but go after the Mitchell Johnson. Unfortunately, he was unable to pull off any heroic acts as Ambati Rayudu managed to get hold of a tricky running catch at the boundary ropes off the 3rd ball in the decisive over to dash all hope of a Pune win.
