The Mumbai Indians batsman Ambati Rayudu has been deemed fit and is now available for the selection in the playing XI.
Rayudu played the first game of the ongoing IPL season for his franchise but was stretched off the field midway during the game. The cause of the injury was not known but there were speculations that he had pulled off his hamstring. He was ruled out for around 10 days due to the injury.
Now he has recovered well in time and is available for being picked up. The news was himself confirmed by the Indian batsman as he wrote –
To all da ppl who were concerned bout my injury. I was declared fit a few days back nd I hav been trainin hard nd eagerly awaiting a call up
— Ambati Rayudu (@RayuduAmbati) April 24, 2017
Rayudu was one of the contenders who could have made a place in the Indian team for Champions Trophy riding on his performance in IPL but the injury came at a wrong time and now he might not be considered for selection, as he has only played one game till now and selectors will announce the squad in a day or two.
So the lack of performance just ahead of the all-important selection might hinder his selection for the mega event.
In fact, now he even might find it difficult to get a place in the Mumbai Indians team, as the franchise is on top of their performance in the league and batting line up looks well settled.
The middle comprising of Nitish Rana, Rohit Sharma, Krunal Pandya and his brother Hardik have performed quite well, to keep Rayudu out of the team for long.
Ambati Rayudu, who shifted his base to Vidarbha in the previous domestic season, has played 110 IPL games where he has scored 2335 runs at an average of 27.47. He was one of the five players to be retained by Mumbai Indians franchise ahead of IPL auction 2014.
At present, Mumbai Indians sits on the top table with six wins in seven games and is on the verge of breaking their own winning streak, as they have already levelled record of six consecutive wins, and it will be an opportunity for them to defeat Rising Pune Supergiant and create a record.
