IPL 2017: Full List Of Players Bought By Rising Pune Supergiants & Probable Lineup

That Rising Pune Supergiants meant business in the upcoming season of the IPL was very much clear when they replaced Mahendra Singh Dhoni by Steven Smith as the captain, one day before the auction. And they made their intentions clear in the auction by buying England star Ben Stokes for a whopping amount of INR 14.50 crores.

The in-form England all-rounder was undoubtedly the biggest name in the auction and the Pune-based outfit went all the way to secure his services after warding off fierce competition from Mumbai Indians. With their major chunk of fortune spent on the Englishman, then went for some low-profile names to bolster their squad.

“He is the form player, big all-rounder, we want to go out hard this year. With Ashwin at 8 we have a solid batting line-up and with Indian players, in the mix it does not look shabby at all. We have leadership, we have bowlers in Stokes and Mitch Marsh,” Stephen Fleming said after the auction.

RPS had finished second last in their inaugural season but the addition of Stokes can change their fortune this term. The 25-year-old has the ability to bowl at any stage of the game apart from possessing the immense ability of decimating any bowling line-up. Moreover, the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Faf du Plessis and Steven Smith are only going to make the team a strong contender in the upcoming season.

With a new captain at the helm and after signing a brilliant all-rounder, RPS can back themselves to enjoy a good outing this year.
