Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir on Friday (April 28) became only the third batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League to cross the 4,000-run mark.
The southpaw, who began his career with Delhi Daredevils before moving to his current team in 2011, reached the milestone when he crossed the 61-run mark against Delhi Daredevils at the Eden Gardens. The India opener, who has led to the Knight Riders to two titles, once again led from the front and remained unbeaten on 71 to steer his team to a comfortable 7-wicket win over his former team. Chasing 160, the home side rode on half-centuries from their skipper and Robin Uthappa to chase down the total inside 17 overs.
Gambhir has been looking in ominous form in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League and has already scored 4 fifties. With 376 runs in 9 matches, he is the leading run-getter this season.
