Gautam Gambhir had a successful IPL career.His name is among the top leaders in the IPL matches all these ten years.

Gambhir was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils franchise in the first player auction of the IPL for a price of US$725,000 a year. He became the second highest run-scorer of the inaugural season with 534 runs from 14 matches. He was promoted to the post of Captain of the Delhi for IPL Season 2010.At the end of the tournament, he became the only player from Delhi to score more than 1000 runs in the IPL.

In the 2011 IPL player Auction, Gambhir was the most sought after player, fetching a bid of $2.4 million from The KKR, making him the highest paid cricketer in the history of IPL. He was then appointed as the skipper of the team.

Gambhir’s captaincy changed the fortune of the team! He has led Kolkata Knight Riders to two trophies in the IPL in 2012 and 2014, making them one of the most successful franchises in the 10-year history of the league. The team also made it to the Champions league T20 for the first time.

Gambhir is the leading run-scorer of the Kolkata Knight Riders.Gambhir though has now revealed his desire to return to Delhi Daredevils in the future and end his IPL career at the Delhi-based franchise.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Gambhir revealed that his heart still lies with the Delhi Daredevils. He said,

“I think my heart is still with Delhi. I played for three years for Delhi (Daredevils). Somewhere, deep within my heart, I’d love to finish with Delhi. Though I am the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders and would want them to win it for the third time, but since I’m a Delhi boy too, I obviously want Delhi Daredevils to do well as well.”

With, speculations of most players going under auction 2018, there are chances that Gambhir might head back to Delhi Daredevils!
