IPL 2017: Gujarat Lions Andrew Tye Ruled Out Of IPL Owning To Shoulder Dislocation
Australian recruit Andrew Tye on Sunday has been ruled out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) following dislocated shoulder to pile up the miseries for struggling Gujarat Lions.
“Unfortunately this is the end of the tournament for me. As heartbreaking as it is, I have enjoyed my time here. The people at Gujarat Lions have looked after me well. The fans have been unbelievable,” Tye was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.com.
However, Lions management is yet to decide on a replacement for the right-arm fast bowler, who also played the cameo of 25 against Mumbai Indians on Saturday (April 29).
The fast bowler Tye, who has been a revelation with the ball, was stretchered off the ground in Rajkot when he tried to stop the ball during the fielding against Mumbai Indians before injuring his left shoulder.
Tye stated he has not been known how much till it will take to heal while talking about his injury.
“The shoulder popped out of the socket and remained out for a while. They put it back in at the hospital. The extent of the damage is still unknown,” Tye revealed.
Andrew Tye, who has claimed 12 wickets in six games, is set to fly home for the rehabilitation process before adding that he is expecting to recover soon to return to the field.
“I will be flying home in the next couple of days to figure that out. And as for the recovery time, I am not too sure at the moment, but hopefully it’s not too long,” Tye concluded.
The 30-year-old Tye has also registered the hat-trick against Rising Pune Supergiant on his debut before claiming the splendid figures of five for 17 in his four overs.
The Perth-born Tye has played 57 Twenty20’s in which he has claimed 74 wickets at an average of 21.54 with the economy of 7.64.
For Australia, Tye has featured in five Twenty20 Internationals in which he claimed five wickets.
