The South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir has been roped in by Rising Pune Supergiants as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh, who was ruled out for the India-Australia Test series due to a shoulder injury. Tahir, who had a base price of 50 Lakhs surprisingly went unsold during the IPL auction last month,
“Imran Tahir who was unsold in the 2017 VIVO IPL Player Auction is from the registered available player pool list (RAPP list). As per the player regulations, RPS is allowed the replacement player from the RAPP list,” stated a BCCI media release on Thursday (March 23).
Tahir was previously the member of Delhi Daredevils before he was released by the franchise.
The number one T20I bowler has played a total of 148 T20s in which he has taken 173 wickets at an economy rate of 6.95. Tahir will be joining likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Adam Zampa to bolster the Rising Pune squad.
Rising Pune Supergiants will take on Mumbai Indians on April 6 at Pune. Steve Smith has replaced MS Dhoni for the upcoming season of IPL.
