Rohit Sharma

Both the games which Mumbai Indians have played against Rising Pune Supergiant this season have gone down to last over and in the end, it has always been the Steven Smith led-franchise that has come out as the winner.

This time again they won but it was a big win, as they did not just end Mumbai’s six-match winning run but also bamboozled them at their home ground, which is considered their fortress.

Rohit’s maiden half century of this year’s IPL was in vain, as they lost the game. Skipper was not amused with the way Mumbai lost the match, as they were so close to the win and in the end, it was a distance of mere three runs that separated both the teams.

Here is what he said after the game –

Rohit Sharma:

“It is disappointing after being so close. We tried our best, gave everything we could. Disappointing not able to finish. We need not be too critical about the performance. It was a great effort to reduce them under 170. In the middle overs, we lost few wickets and that was a little mistake. Overall a great game. The pitch was little dry and was assisting spinners. Both the spinners did a good job. It’s very important to understand the pace at which you need to bowl at the Wankhede. It’s harder with dew coming in and both our spinners bowled really well. As I said, we don’t have to be critical of our performance. We’ve been playing good cricket. We need to continue doing that. We don’t want to lose any games. We have to leave this game right here and move on. We got to focus on the matches coming up and get our act together. Was good to score runs, but disappointing not to finish the game. Jaydev bowled a great last over. It takes a lot of courage to bowl and he got a wicket off the first ball which is very crucial. Needing 17, you can’t lose a wicket off the first ball (in the final over).
