Sanju Samson’s majestic maiden IPL and T20 ton, Chris Morris’s 38 runs in nine balls in the business end of the innings and then bowlers restricting Pune batsman around 100 to win the game for Delhi Daredevils by a huge margin of 97 runs against Rising Pune Supergiants in Pune. It was their first 200+ score since 2012.
RPS, in this game, never looked in control, though they got an early wicket but the 22-year-old Sanju Samson took the centre stage and played a magnificent knock, and then in later part of the innings, Chris Morris played a blinder of 38 runs in just nine balls. The same story continues for RPS in batting, as well. chasing 206 Pune batsmen succumbed to this huge total and failed miserably. They were losing wicket one after one and got bowled out inside 17 overs. Zaheer Khan and Amit Mishra both combined to picked up six wickets.
Rajat Bhatia in press conference accepted that RPS is yet to get his best and that they need to up their game to a level in Batting and Bowling both.
“It was a Bad day for RPS, even DD’s last game was a bad day for them they lost from a winning position and we were not even close to winning in this game, credit should be given to the team that played well”
“Steven Smith and Manoj Tiwary’s absence really matter to the team, as in their absence team composition gets changed and for the young player it is tough to settle early”
Rajat Bhatia also praises Sanju Samson and Chris Morris, they both proved crucial in Delhi’s victory.
“He(Sanju Samson) has spent enough time in domestic cricket, and now I guess it is the time he should get promoted to the next level”
“Chris Morris made full use of our weakness, He is a good batsman and can hit the bowl so hard, it is good we are exposed to our weakness in the early stages of the championship.”
Rajat Bhatia is still hopeful and positive in terms of their chances in the IPL 2017, he says that in previous season we have teams winning a championship even after losing first five or six matches in tournament and teams losing in league round even after winning in initial stages. It is just the start of the season.
