IPL 2017 : MATCH 14 : Kolkata Knight Riders vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kolkata Knight Riders Predicted XI

Kolkata Knight Riders, the most balanced team, never failed to surprise masses with player inclusions, starting from buying the mystery man NARINE to letting him open last night and make a sly move.

At the top of the table, yes, a well-deserved position and indeed they have fought their way up there!

A commendable win in the first match with Chris Lynn doing a heroic act along with the skipper, a 10-wicket win against the Gujarat Lions was followed by a heartbreaking loss against Mumbai Indians in a jaw-dropping bout! Moving back to their fortress at the Eden Gardens would have given them some confidence as also the fact that they were facing a team against whom they have traditionally done well.

But things could never have been taken for granted. Kings XI Punjab had put up disciplined performances against both Rising Pune Supergiant and Royal Challengers Bangalore and were perched on the top of the table.

Piyush Chawla, who was drafted into the side in place of Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav made an absolute mess on the boundary in the second ball of the match. Hashim Amla turned an incoming delivery from Trent Boult away behind square on the leg side, and Chawla made a lazy one-handed effort.Narine had another moment of faux pas when he let the ball bounce over his head at third man and go past the boundary. That was pretty amateurish from the West Indian and attracted considerable flak from the commentators. That notwithstanding, the KKR fielders also came up with a novel way of conceding runs, which made for a comedy of errors,

KKR scored 76 runs during the power-play of the match. It is the highest total for KKR in the powerplay. KKR cricketer Sunil Narine batted as an opener in this match. He batted very well as he scored 37 runs in just 18 balls with an impressive strike rate of 205.55. Scoring at least 25 runs in an innings, it is the third highest strike rate by a KKR batsman against KXIP. The top two in this list are: 242.85 by Andre Russell (at Kolkata on 9th May 2015) and 209.52 by Chris Gayle (at Kolkata on 4th April 2010)KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir once again played a responsible knock as he scored an unbeaten 72 runs. It is the second highest score by a KKR captain against KXIP. The highest knock by a KKR captain against KXIP is 86* by Sourav Ganguly (at Kolkata on 25th May 2008).

On the other hand, the defending champions after winning matches back to back lost their last match too against Dumb ai Indians. Rana and Pandya’s quickfire innings pulled a stop to the winning spree of the orange army!

David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan set a foundation early on for SRH, but the middle-order failed to capitalize as Mumbai fought back well with the ball to restrict SRH to 158 for eight. In chase of the modest total, Parthiv Patel led the charge for MI with a 24-ball 39 before Nitish Rana played a crucial hand of 45 off 36 balls.

SRH vs KKR Head to Head Record IPL is 4 season old. Head-to-Head both teams played 9 matches. KKR won 6 matches while SRH won 3 matches only. Kolkata Knight Riders has upper hand on Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH is only 4 season team while KKR have played all the seasons.

KKR’s bowling and batting, however, saved the day for them. Narine started his spell poorly, straying down the leg side, but then tightened his game, and deceived Marcus Stoinis with a delivery that cramped him for room and made him drag it back onto his stumps. Narine conceded eight runs in his first over, but bowled with considerable control thereafter, giving away a mere 19 runs off his four overs, making amends for his forgettable fielding efforts. The inclusion of star pacer Umesh in the match was perfect as he took four wickets, the best bowling figure in IPL. The surprise decisions that the camp has taken so far were hits.

In any case, such moves look brilliant when they come off and ugly when they don’t. Gambhir took that gamble. It came off on Thursday and how! Narine smashed the KXKIP bowlers all around the park scoring 37 off 18 balls, which included four hits to the boundary and three over it. He fell in his effort to clear the boundary once more, but did the job that he was sent out to do with perfection with KKR were off to a rollicking start.Fielding is the concern. But the captain in form makes a lot of difference holding the orange cap. SRH bowling looked a little crambled last day. Mustafizur, who joined after injury was expected to perform like last year but alas failed and the middle order lost the spark.Whereas KKR’s inclusion of Collin de Grandhomme in place of Russell was a hit, that man looked well with swings nad gave KKR breakthrough and also returning of Yadav was a feather in the cap.
