IPL 2017: Match 31 – Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Gujarat Lions – Predicted XI Of RCB
The finalist of the ninth edition are struggling this year while bagging just two wins out of their eight matches so far, following the failure of Royal Challengers batting depth and bowling departments’ inability to kept opposition in check, in most of the games, as they leaked runs even after individual performances couldn’t steady their ship.
Royal Challengers are looking forward to pulling off a miracle to qualify for the play-offs stage, as they have to win all six matches from here on to qualify for the playoffs which are scheduled from May 16.
With the likes of AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and skipper Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers has to lift the momentum by giving out their power-packed performances in the remainder of the matches while scoring the bulk of runs in addition to taking care of their net run-rate also.
The inconsistency has been a major worry for the Bangalore-based franchise and the batting-heavy team would be aiming to rely on their key factors, who could change the complexion of the game.
Aggressive Kohli didn’t seem to have left much impact with his thinking cap on. However, playing as a unit would help their cause which didn’t seem in light with their performances so far.
After hosts registered IPL’s lowest team total of 49, Royal Challengers would like to hit the right way by coming out and perform in front of the packed home crowd, as Tuesday’s game was washed out due to rain.
However, in their first game against Gujarat Lions, Royal Challengers batsmen put on a prolific show to post 213 on the board for the loss of three wickets. It could also be seen as on of the positive point against Lions before taking the field against the newcomers.
In match number 20, while facing-off Lions, Royal Challengers fast bowlers leaked runs except for two spinners, in the form of Pawan Negi and Yuzvendra Chahal, who shared four wickets among them.
The much-anticipated clash between team number six and eight respectively would witness teams going up and down on the points table, as the 10th edition of Indian Premier League has already entered into its fourth week.
With one point from abandoned game on Tuesday against Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB tallied up five points from eight matches. However, they are on the verge of losing out for the qualification of 2017 playoffs.
Overall Previous Encounters:
In the head to head contest, Royal Challengers have won three and Gujarat Lions have registered a single win out of four matches since 2016 when Lions were introduced following the disqualification of two IPL franchises; Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings which were defunct after spot-fixing saga surfaced during the IPL.

It’s going to a great battle between both the teams, as Lions would be aiming to come hard at the hosts after losing their match against the same opposition by 21 runs at their home in Rajkot.
On the other hand, the Kohli-led side would be aiming to put up a good show at home as the happy hunting ground for Royal Challengers skipper would be a litmus test for visitors.
Striking the similarity, both the teams’ bowlers seemed struggling to leave an impact apart from just a few.
AB de Villiers would be the key for Royal Challengers alongside captain Kohli himself. They would be banking on Chris Gayle for the rousing start in a bid to provide the early momentum if they side would bat first.
From the bowling department, Tymal Mills has to prove his worth with the new ball. Mills, who could easily crank up 150-plus hasn’t been at his best with the ball.
The 24-year-old Yorkshire-born fast bowler Mills is expected to make a way for New Zealand pacer Adam Milne.
However, the spinners could play a crucial role for the visitors in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and Pawan Negi.
