With each passing day in the tournament, Rising Pune Supergiant team have grown older and older and have come out with results; not surprisingly, as it was shocking to see this team lose at an early stage but they have made a remarkable comeback, winning five of their last six games to vault into the top four on the points table.
With each game, the chances of this team making it to the next round are increasing and if they are able to continue this form, then they might find a spot in the top two as well.
RPS sealed a hard-fought win against Gujarat Lions the previous day and they will look to do the same with Kolkata Knight Riders as well.
Previous Encounter –
Both the teams met each other a few days back at Pune where it was the visitors who chased down a big total of 183. The in-form batsmen Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa shone for the team in the chase as both of them scored a half-century to win the game for the team.
Both the batsmen will look continue this form, especially Robin Uthappa, who will again be the key for the team.
Talking Points –
The form of Ben Stokes in the previous game was the biggest talking point as it was the first time in the tournament when it looked like he has done justice to the price tag of 14.5 Crore. It was him who shone for the team, despite the fact that everyone was expecting MS Dhoni to finish off the game.
The former skipper of the franchise took his time in the middle and till the time he looked like changing his batting gear, he found himself back in the pavilion. Stokes did not just absorb the pressure well but also saw his team getting past the winning total. In fact, the dismissal of Dhoni proved to be a boon for Pune as Daniel Christian, Dhoni’s successor at the crease played an aggressive innings to give a great finishing touch.
Predicted XI of RPS –
Rahul Tripathi, Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith (C), MS Dhoni (WK), Manoj Tiwary, Daniel Christian, Ben Stokes., Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Imran Tahir.
