IPL 2017 Match 42: Delhi Daredevils Vs Gujarat Lions – DD Predicted XI
Thanks to a fine batting performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Delhi Daredevils have kept their campaign alive in the tournament. Up next, they are pitted against a side that hasn’t looked impressive at all this season and languishes in the bottom half of the points tally – Gujarat Lions.
The previous game was just an example of why Karun Nair is rated so highly by everyone around him. Thanks to his superlative start where he blazed his way to 39 off just 20 deliveries, the Daredevils found the much-needed kick and were put on course to win the game. Sanju Samson must also be credited for finally living up to the expectations and doing well as an opener.
Another win here for the Daredevils and they could enter the mid-table and if the Rising Pune Supergiant loses to the Knight Riders at Kolkata, then they will find themselves in an even better position. All in all, Delhi cannot afford any goof ups at this stage now.
The two sides are yet to face off this season, and their previous clash was witnessed on the 3rd of May 2016 at Rajkot. It was a game best remembered for the heroics of Rishab Pant, who while opening the innings, rocketed his team in a moderate run chase.
Needing just 150 to win on a batting paradise, the Daredevils were off and running right away thanks to Pant’s aggressive start at the top. The southpaw scored 69 off just 40 deliveries as he made full use of the powerplay. The Daredevils eventually won with more than 2 overs to spare and Pant was duly named the Man of the Match.
Recent form this season:
DD: W, L, L, L, L
GL: L, L, W, L, W
In Zaheer Khan’s absence, Mohammad Shami led the bowling unit excellently as he was named the Man of the Match in the side’s victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shami’s yorker to send back danger man David Warner was the perfect execution of bowling a yorker. High of confidence, Shami will be eager to replicate his heroics against the batting heavy Gujarat Lions.
Kagiso Rabada endured a horror game where Yuvraj Singh tonked him to all parts of the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Conceding 59 runs in 4 overs, Rabada was definitely not at his best. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he was axed for Pat Cummins.
DD Predicted XI:
