IPL 2017: Match 45 – Delhi Daredevils Vs Mumbai Indians – Match Prediction
Mumbai Indians have had hardly set a foot wrong in this Indian Premier League (IPL) even though the side has witnessed initial failures of their skipper, Rohit Sharma before an all-round contribution paved the way for their success in general.
The Men in Blue has earned 14 points at the Net run-rate of +0.427 in the tenth edition of Vivo IPL 2017.
On the other side, Delhi Daredevils is ready to give tough time to formidable side, as they have won two consecutive games after losing five matches on the trot following a superb display with the bat by hosts top-order.
After Daredevils lost the services of Sam Billings, who returned home to join England’s national squad against Ireland for the two-match ODI series, Daredevils side is also missing the services of Zaheer Khan as a skipper and a bowler in the action, who is nursing hamstring injury which he picked against Kolkata Knight Riders earlier in the tournament.
Placed at the number sixth on the points table, Daredevils claimed eight points in 10 matches while losing out on six.
Mumbai Indians: The Rohit-led side shred the tag of slow starters by claiming eight wins out of their ten matches. The side has claimed six wins on the trot after losing their opening encounter against Rising Pune Supergiant in Pune.
Interestingly, they have lost their two of their games against Rising Pune Supergiant at home and away.
As Mumbai has quality all-rounder at the helm in the form of Kieron Pollard, who has claimed some impressive catches before scoring crucial runs in parts for this season. In a game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the burly Pollard, who is acrobatic on the field has also shown his strength with the bat.
Delhi Daredevils: Adding some positives, the Daredevils batting has clicked in the final phase of the group stage, as they have claimed crucial wins against Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad while chasing the target.
Showing their capability with the bat in both games, the Daredevils top-order fired in unison to achieve the desired results.
While witnessing some clean hitting, Rishabh Pant played a gem of a knock against Lions to hand a convincing seven-wicket win at the Feroz Shah Kotla after Sanju Samson gave a good start on the other hand too.
Tracking The Strength:
Mumbai Indians: Indians strength lies in its bowling, but batsmen have equally played an anchor role in making most out of it while scoring crucial runs to lift the momentum of the team when they seemed to be struggling in the middle.
While having the services of Jasprit Bumrah, who executed his plans well in the super over against Gujarat Lions, is the main weapon alongside Lasith Malinga for captain Rohit.
McClenaghan, the hero with the ball hasn’t done enough to boost but he had troubled the batsmen while using his slower ones while taking crucial wickets to give strong chances – to his team for the qualification of the knockout stage.
Delhi Daredevils: Delhi side rose to the occasion as their batters have been among runs in the past couple of matches. While hitting the ball neat and clean, the players stated they are thinking about the league while taking a game into consideration before going into another one.
Interestingly, mentor of Daredevils revealed that he want to see boys playing their natural game to give their best in the ongoing tournament.
Relying on wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson on top, Daredevils would like to see stand-in skipper Karun Nair register some big runs to help the side in the crisis situation. Moreover, it’s visible that Daredevils side would be aiming to take revenge at home while giving their best with both bat and a ball.
Delhi would be heavily relying on their top-order alongside experienced campaigners Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammad Shami in the bowling department. However, if Delhi uses spin trio with the likes of Shahbaz Nadeem, Amit Mishara and Jayant Yadav, they are highly likely to make things tough for the opponent.
Both the teams have met in the previous game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 22, where the hosts Mumbai claimed the win by 14 runs in a low-scoring affair.
While batting first, Mumbai Indians posted 142 for eight on the board before Daredevils were able to score 128 for seven in 20 overs. It was Mitchell McClenaghan, who starred for Mumbai while claiming the impressive figures of three for 24 in the four overs.
We are betting on Mumbai side which is having a dream-run in this season even though Delhi Daredevils has produced some much-needed wins, lately.
Expecting the ground would remain dry which would assist spinners will witness score of 185, as the team batting second might find it easy to chase down the While having the close competition both teams have faced either other in 19 games since 2008 inaugural season of IPL.
Mumbai Indians have registered 10 wins, whereas, Delhi Daredevils won nine which further shows how they kept things tight under different set of captains.
