IPL 2017: Match 49 – Kings XI Punjab Vs Kolkata Knight Riders – KXIP Predicted XI
Kolkata Knight Riders, who are on brink of qualifying for the next round will take on Kings XI Punjab – a team which still has a hope to qualify for the playoffs – at PCA stadium in Mohali.
Just when it seemed like the KXIP got the winning mantra back, the team faltered against the weak Gujrat Lions and went on to lose the game, from a stage, where it looked like they have ensured a win.
This contest can be termed as a do or die contest for them, as a win will help them to keep their hopes alive, whereas, a loss in this game will be a shocker for the team, as the side has gone through a proper series of events this season.
They kicked off the season with two back to back wins followed by four consecutive defeats. Somehow they got back on the winning track but the loss against Gujarat Lions came at a wrong time, and they now have to ensure a win in remaining contests so as to qualify for the next round.
Previous Encounter –
The two teams met each other almost a month ago where Kolkata Knight Riders chased down a total of 171 in just 16.3 overs. It was their captain who shone for the team, as Gautam Gambhir played an innings of 72 in just 49 deliveries, to lead the side to an emphatic win.
Both the teams have different expectations from the game, as for KKR, it’s is a chance to stretch their qualifying chances, whereas, for Punjab, it is game to keep their hopes for the next round alive.

Talking points –
The form of Sandeep Sharma is the biggest talking point, as he has emerged as a gem for the team who is shining in each and every game. He has been the talk of the town and surely, the success of the team will fully depend on Sandeep’s bowling. He will be the key for the team again, as, if he is able to get Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine early, then Punjab will gain an early advantage, whereas, they will be smacked away for runs if Sandeep Sharma fails to deliver.
KXIP Predicted XI: Manan Vohra, Shaun Marsh, Armaan Jaffer, Glenn Maxwell, Axar Patel, Wriddhiman Saha, Gurkeet Singh Mann, Mohit Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Varun Aaron, T Natarajan.
