IPL 2017 Match 5 – Kings XI Punjab Vs Rising Pune Supergiant – KXIP Predicted XI
Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiant are two of the best sides, heavily loaded with stars. Despite that, they have failed to do justice with the talent they possess.
Nine years on and KXIP is yet to get their hands on the trophy whereas Rising Pune Supergiant, disappointed fans in their first edition of Indian Premier League last year. They could just win five of 14 games they played, under the leadership of MS Dhoni, which resulted in him being sacked the very next season.
On the other hand, KXIP has had also made a number of changes in quest of IPL cup. This time, they have made the biggest change in the history by appointing Glenn Maxwell as the skipper of the side, which came out of the box. He eclipsed likes of Eoin Morgan and Darren Sammy to take over the reigns of the team. It was the mind of Virender Sehwag to rope in an aggressive player as the captain who can take on the aggressive approach in the league.
Previous encounter –
Previously, both these teams have squared off in two games last season where both the teams won a game each. So history shows that till now, any of the team is yet to get an upper hand and it will be an encounter where both the teams will look to prove that they have an edge over other.
In addition to it, the way Rising Pune Supergiant accomplished a win over Mumbai Indian in the first game, it would have given them a lot of confidence before going in the next game.
Recent form this season:
KXIP – Season opener
Talking Points –
Appointment of Glenn Maxwell as the skipper of the side ahead of Eoin Morgan, Darren Sammy and David Miller was the biggest news ahead of the start of the tournament. This came as the biggest surprise as Morgan and Sammy had already proved their prowess in this format in past. Under Sammy, West Indies have won two T20 World Cups in 2012 and then in 2016 whereas Morgan carried his team to the final of the T20 World Cup in 2016.
Also, Miller has also led the team in past and Maxwell’s name for the job came out of nowhere.
Virender Sehwag who wants his team to play aggressively in the league. He desires that KXIP should go in with an aggressive mindset, in each and every game, just like he was as an active player.
However, Maxwell has to prove Sehwag’s decision right or else this team has a history of changing their captain mid-way season.
KXIP Predicted XI –
Manan Vohra, Glenn Maxwell (C), Eoin Morgan, Wriddhiman Saha, Darren Sammy, David Miller, Axar Patel, Ishant Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Sandeep Sharma, Pradeep Sahu.
