The tenth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) has already witnessed fireworks from youngsters, who not only scored well but played pivotal roles for their respective teams to see them emerging as victorious and one such example is Nitish Rana, who has been a revelation for Mumbai Indians with the bat.

Mumbai Indians are on roll as we have had witnessed the carnage in Indore when the visitors chased down the massive total of 199 with eight wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare as Rana and Jos Butler overshadowed brilliant century from Kings XI Punjab’s Hashim Amla before rousing start from Mumbai Indians’ openers.

The formidable Mumbai has registered five consecutive wins to top the points table which is followed by Kolkata Knight Riders with eight points out of five games.

However, on the other side, Delhi Daredevils had lost their previous two encounters and they would be aiming to regroup and deliver as a unit in the match number 25 which would take place at Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday night.

Daredevils is led by experienced campaigner Zaheer Khan, who has been mixing his bowlers well, but in the last game, he was livid with himself after costing too many runs, in the final over against Sunrisers Hyderabad when Kane Williamson played a sublime knock in his opening game of the season.

After the run-fest at Holkar Stadium in Indore, we can expect a thrilling contest between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils as both teams would be eyeing to win and march on the points table to cling on their chances.

It would be more like defending versus chasing the target contest between both the teams.

Mumbai Indians:

Mumbai Indians top-order has shown promise once again on the belter of a pitch.

Heading for the home encounter hosts would be aiming to continue their juggernaut after losing their tournament opener against Rising Pune Supergiant.

Men in Blue have shown a great promise in all departments so far. The way their openers batted put off the pressure from skipper to achieve the daunting total convincingly while slaying the Kings XI Punjab bowling line-up which hinged on local pool of talent.

Delhi Daredevils:

Daredevils would like to see youngsters shoulder responsibility and their experienced bowlers should help out the cause to unnerve any of the best batting line-ups. Karun Nair needs to click to help his side in making the comeback.

The visitors are expected to spring a surprise or two in the upcoming matches as they have also the quality line-up in the squad.

However, winning next two games, Daredevils failed to capitalise on the opportunities as they lost last two games even after youngsters have had shown much promise while adding value to the team.

View On Think Tank:

MI: While going into the game, Mumbai Indians could come up with the same unit they fielded against Kings XI Punjab.

However, a change or so can be expected as they are in driver’s seat courtesy brilliant performances from youngsters to give the early impetuous for Mumbai.

DD: On the other side, Daredevils had their chances but they bogged down many and would like to improve in all three departments.

The best thing in Daredevils unit is their bowling force which has produced good results in the recent past.

Tracking The Strength:

MI: Batting And Bowling;

Twenty20 cricket requires the combination of power-hitters, good bowling unit and some good fielders to rely on, in fact, it’s the principle for all formats and Mumbai Indians had been blessed with special talent who are delivering to strengthen the unit as they’ve emerged as the table toppers so far.

Nitish Rana has amassed 255 runs so far to hold the orange cap. However, the best part to gain the momentum for Mumbai Indians was that everyone had contributed either with the bat or while rolling over the arm.

DD: Banking On Mixture of Experience And Youth;

The Delhi Daredevils side is relying on a blend of mixtures which is capable of bouncing back.

However, relying solely on their bowling, Daredevils would be eagerly waiting to see its top order continue their domination against the opposition which includes Sam Billings, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant.

Their strength further relies on batting first while setting the good total for their bowlers to defend.

However, Wankhade has often assisted batters and while having Amit Mishra, Shahbaz Nadeem, Daredevils would like to make the most use of them before they would like to see Karun Nair firing in the middle.

The statistics from the past nine editions of IPL have provided a striking similarity and that’s both teams have registered nine wins each in 18 games.

With 50 per cent record each for the both teams which further shows they have been giving their best.

However, Mumbai Indians have laid their hands over two IPL titles, whereas, Daredevils is yet to win the Twenty20 title.

In last ten matches, Daredevils won six games and Mumbai Indians registered four wins.

While considering the fact, Mumbai Indians claimed six wins out of seven matches at home which further explain how Men in Blue had delivered against struggling Daredevils.

It’s going to be a good wicket to bat on and given to the night match, the team winning the toss would like to bowl first.

However, Mumbai Indians have the likening for the chasing whereas; Zaheer Khan is interested in setting the totals.

It’s highly likely that Mumbai Indians could emerge out as victorious, but Daredevils is a good unit and are capable of chasing daunting totals as well.

We could expect the score of 170-plus on this pitch and it could be a close encounter to watch out for as we would expect both teams wrestle for the hard-fought win.
