Delhi Daredevils opened their account in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League with a thumping 97-run win over Rising Pune Supergiant on Tuesday (April 12). After being asked to bat first, Zaheer Khan’s men posted a mammoth total of 205 for 4 courtesy of a brilliant century from Sanju Samson and a quickfire knock from Chris Morris. In reply, Pune, who were without their unwell skipper Steve Smith, could manage only 108 runs. This was their second consecutive defeat in the tournament after they opened their campaign with an impressive win against Mumbai Indians.

Sanju Samson has now become the sixth batsman to score an IPL century for Delhi Daredevils. Kings XI Punjab had 7 players scoring centuries in the tournament for them, the most number of players for any team.
An IPL century at an age of 22 years and 151 days has also made Samson the 2nd youngest player to score a century in the IPL . Manish Pandey holds the record of being the youngest IPL centurion when he scored a century in the second season of the IPL at an age of 19 years and 253 days.
