IPL 2017: Need To Regroup Before Delhi Game – Glenn Maxwell

Nine days into the tournament and none of the teams are undefeated. This has probably been the trend of this season of the IPL, with teams while winning a game or two, have also lost one here or there. Kings XI Punjab became the last team this season to register a loss, as they were humbled by the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
On losing a crucial toss, the Punjab batsmen showed clear intent, with the young Manan Vohra looking a class apart. The young right-hander looked impressive before he was dismissed for 28 by Piyush Chawla.
Hashim Amla, on the other hand, looked terribly out of touch, as he played with a strike rate below 100. Amla’s sluggish knock pretty much sucked off all the momentum which Vohra’s vibrant start provided.
The Knight Riders made a mockery of the target, as they comfortably got home with skipper Gautam Gambhir leading the way with a half-century. The move to open with Sunil Narine did the trick, as the Trinidadian made 37 off just 18 deliveries.
“I thought we had a chance with how the wicket played and with an extra quick in our line-up,” said Glenn Maxwell after his side’s loss. “I have seen it in the Big Bash (Narine opening). He played and missed a few times before scoring some handy runs.”
Maxwell, however, mentioned that his team would be up and running for the next game against Delhi Daredevils.
“We actually played pretty well, there was one poor over where we lost three wickets. Apart from that, we were good with the bat. We have to regroup quickly and focus on the Delhi game,” concluded Glenn Maxwell.
