Bhuvneswar Kumar:

In 2016, he was the purple cap holder with 23 scalps while leading Sunrisers’ excellent bowling unit, and after three matches of IPL 2017, the purple cap is back on Bhuvneshwar’s head. Three matches, six wickets at an outstanding economy rate of 5.75.

He strikes in every 10.2 deliveries, and each of his wickets has cost a measly 9.85 runs.

Like last season, Bhuvneshwar’s bowling so far has been controlling and nagging, and he’s sent down 31 dot balls in 12 overs. His team-mate Rashid Khan, the first Afghanistan cricketer to play in the IPL.

Gautam Gambhir:

This player now owns the orange cap, at the time of writing. Gautam Gambhir struck an unbeaten 72 off 49 balls to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to an eight-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in their first home game of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gambhir gunned down the opposition attack with blazing innings, helping his team overcome the 171-run target in 16.3 overs.

It was also a record-equalling 33rd IPL fifty for Gambhir who now shares the feat with Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner. Not to mention his first match where he batted out with Lynn! He is consistently performing in each match and indeed playing a captain’s innings to lead his team.
