IPL 2017: Ravi Shastri Takes a Friendly Dig At Sanjay Manjrekar For His Twitter Tussle With Kieron Pollard 1

Indian commentator Ravi Shastri took a friendly jibe at his fellow teammate Sanjay Manjrekar today during the ongoing Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Mumbai Indians fixture.

Shastri could not control himself when the cameras panned on West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard and reminded his commentating partner of a recent controversy.

Shastri was speaking in context to the recent Manjrekar – Pollard twitter banter which took place after the culmination of MI’s previous clash with Kolkata Knight Riders.

“Oh, the big man is in the house. Sanjay, your buddy! Got a chance to speak with him to him when you went for the toss?” Shastri said as soon as Pollard was shown on the screen after being brought into the attack.

Manjrekar also maintained a sarcastic tone to his reply and said, “Kept a safe distance. A couple of security guys outside the commentary box as well as well. That reaction came from nowhere, the compliment that he paid me was unexpected.”

Manjrekar surely has every reason to be intimidated, especially after the kind of reply he received from the West Indian giant.

In the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Pollard came in to bat at number 3 and scored 17 runs in as many balls. Manjrekar felt that Pollard came in early and quoted “When I think of Pollard, I think of a six-seven-over-left batsman.”

This remark did not go down well with the mercurial Pollard who hit back with back to back tweets to slam the commentator tagging his opinion as verbal diarrhoea. He vented out all his frustration in the first tweet.

His first tweet read: “@sanjaymanjrekar u feel any positive can come out of your mouth bcuz u get pay to talk u can continue with your verbal diarrhoea”

He did not stop here and tried explaining Manjrekar about the fair usage of the word. The second tweet was the dose of wisdom.

Do you know how I get big so… about BRAINLESS…words are very powerful… Once it leaves u can’t take it back…sins of parents fall on…”

Lastly, he calmed down and ended up congratulating Nitish Rana, Krunal and Hardik Pandya for their match-winning efforts. The trio played made vital contrition with the bat and pulled an improbable looking chase at the Wankhede.

U finish that sentence….!! All in all great TEAM effort… Well done team well done Hardik Nitish Krunal youngsters doing the business
