IPL 2017 : RCB Batting Coach Trent Woodhill Backs Gayle to fire soon

The second week of IPL has already heated things up a bit! Royal Challengers Bangalore has always been the talk since the advent of this season due to some serious injury issues of AB de Villiers and Virat; Rahul too is missing this season.
But the camp and fans looked relieved when both the biggies joined the camp, but alas again like a story each year, the royals have crippled under such heavy names! Hard to find a win and suffering losses.
A lot indeed depends on the power hitter and openers, Gayle. When he gets going, the other teams looks like a miniature, but this season has not yet witnessed the beast that this man is!
But for the batting coach of RCB, this seems to be a temporary issue and he remains optimistic of a future turn-around.
“Rahul is a world-class player, his absence is massive. It is opportunity time, it is about players coming in and doing what KL did for us last year,” said the coach on players missing this year’s IPL.
He also expressed confidence on Chris Gayle, saying, “Chris is hitting the ball well in the nets and he’s not far away from a big score. Write off Chris at your own peril. He’s hot a fantastic record here (Bangalore).”
Chris Gayle in the three matches that he has played so far, he has a batting average of just 20. Due to his inconsistency, he was dropped against the Kings XI Punjab.
Ahead of today’s bout, something positive was observed for the Bangalore side. The team had an optional practice session in the M Chinnaswamy stadium one day prior to the match. Gayle who is yet to hit a big knock for the team was seen hitting the ball confidently in the session. For the coach, there was no other delight better than seeing the big man gain his confidence.
Chris Gayle is just three runs away from scoring 10,000 T20 runs and this won’t take long, according to the coach. And his record at the M Chinnaswamy has been explosive; Gayle scored a massive score of 175 from just 66 balls in the 6th edition of the IPL.
Having just won one of their four matches, it would be interesting to see how the team performs in their upcoming match against Pune.
For RCB Gayle, not performing must be a plight, as once he starts scoring his regular way, RCB would have a good start to their innings and a huge boost for the side. But not only this West Indian star but also the whole team especially the lower middle order should perform well as it seems the team depends too much on big names. The sooner the realization the better the results come!
