IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiant And Mumbai Indians Match Kicks-Off With Glittering Ceremony In Pune

From the golf-cart entry of skippers to shaking of the leg, star performers made dazzling appearances amid firecrackers and lights in the background, as it made the special alignment for the fans, for the tenth edition’s second game which will get underway shortly between the hosts Rising Pune Supergiant and Mumbai Indians.

As the crowd started trickling in the Maharashtra’s stadium, it all came on our way with the fans sharing their valuable views on the past editions of the Indian Premier League before anchor Samir Kochar made entry into the ground – to start the proceedings of the ceremony.

Interestingly, it is happening for the first time that all eight IPL franchises are scheduled to host the ceremony for their inaugural games and it was the second one in two days.

Both the skippers; Steven Smith (Rising Pune Supergiant) and Rohit Sharam (Mumbai Indians) paraded around the ground on the beat of their respective slogans while boarded a golf cart which further witnessed loud cheers from the crowd in the background to welcome their respective team leaders.

Following the routine, hosts’ skipper Smith presented a token of respect in the form of a memento to Sharma on the podium – to start off with the roaring start in Pune as lights, action and the scale of drummers made it feast for the eyes while performers aligned to appear on the giant screen.

The drummers made a dazzling entry as trumpets were blown by the men in colours before we witnessed locals dancing in unison – to present the cultural ethos of the Pune.

Well-known playback singer, Shalmali Kholgade made an appealing entry in red-velvet attire followed by drum rollers, as she entertained the jam-packed crowd with the peppy Bollywood numbers; Teri Latt Lagayi” followed by “Balam Pichkari”, “Baby Ko Base Pasand Hai”.

The eyes rolled over as Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh, who made a stardust entry before shaking his leg on the Bollywood numbers which included ‘Haath Uthake’ at the colourful podium alongside girls, who synchronised with him beautifully to fire up the spectators as Marathi dancers made an early impact to keep crowd hooked.

Deshmukh impressed his followers by his antics with ‘RD’ engraved on one of his attires as set the dance floor on fire his moves.

Last night Hyderabad witnessed eye-catching performances by Bollywood star Amy Jackson, who performed on instant hit Bollywood songs which drew flak as they found it below par.

However, in the IPL opener, the presence of star cricketers made a significant sight for the fans in Hyderabad yesternight which we didn’t witness in Pune as both teams are ready to wrestle which has been summed up by Ajinkya Rahane as ‘great rivalry’.
