Rising Pune Supergiant have won the toss and opted to bowl first against Delhi Daredevils in the 9th match of Vivo Indian Premier League 2017 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
Ajinkya Rahane is leading Pune on Tuesday as Steven Smith is out with a bad stomach. Manoj Tiwary will also miss the game after losing his father this morning. Overall, Pune have made four changes to the team that lost against Kings XI Punjab. Faf Du Plessis and Adam Zampa come in for Steve Smith and Dan Christian respectively while Rahul Tripathi has been included in place of Manoj Tiwary. Deepak Chahar gets the nod ahead of Rahul Chahar.
On the other hand, Delhi have replaced Carlos Brathwaite with Corey Anderson .
Here is what the captains said:
Ajinkya Rahane:
“We will look to bowl. The wicket looks really good. There was dew in the last game we played here and hence the decision to field. Unfortunately, Smith is not well and I had to step in. It is an opportunity for the boys and hopefully, we will do well. Stomach bug keeps Smith out. Unfortunately, Manoj Tiwary lost his father today and he is out. Zampa comes in for Daniel Christian.”
Zaheer Khan:
“It looks a good wicket and we were planning to do the same thing. It is 20-over-a-side and it will not change much. DD is known for this – not starting too well. Everyone is up for it and are ready for the challenge. Just the one change; Carlos is out and Corey Anderson is in.”
Meanwhile, both the teams will be desperate to collect all the two points after suffering defeats in their previous matches.
Delhi Daredevils will be keen to open their account in the tournament after losing their season-opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore while the home team will look to get their campaign back on track after losing their second game of the season against Kings XI Punjab.
