IPL 2017: Rising Pune Supergiants Bag Pacer Shardul Thakur To Boost Squad

Shardul Thakur has joined Rising Pune Supergiants for IPL season 10.

Led by Steven Smith and coached by Stephen Fleming, IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiants have now acquired the services of Shardul Thakur to boost their squad. Already have made headlines for splurging 14.5 crores on Ben Stokes in recently held auction, Pune confirmed the pacers inclusion on Monday, February 6th.

Born in Punjab, the right-arm fast bowler just has had one outing in the cash rich league so far and now having to associate himself with a star-studded side, he is expected to spearhead the bowling line-up of Pune. In the one he played against Delhi Daredevils, Thakur gave away 38 runs in three overs and also took one wicket.

Pune, who made their debut last season alongside Gujarat Lions, stood last in the points table with just five wins in 14 matches. Following the result, the franchise opted to sack ex-captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the respective post and thus gave the baton to Australian Steven Smith.

The decision wasn’t welcomed by the fans as they were already upset with MS stepping down from the captaincy post of India’s limited-overs side early in the year. With lot of changes happening around in the side, Thakur’s addition could play as a healer. Post the first season, the side also included Delhi Daredevils Mayank Agarwal into their set-up.

Adam Zampa, Ajinkya Rahane, Ankit Sharma, Ankush Bains, Ashoke Dinda, B Aparajith, Ben Stokes, Daniel Christian, Deepak Chahar, Faf du Plessis, Ishwar Pandey, Jaskaran Singh, Jaydev Unadkat, Lockie Ferguson, Manoj Tiwary, Mayank Agarwal, Milind Tandon, Mitchell Marsh, MS Dhoni, Rahul Ajay Tripathi, Rahul Chahar, Rajat Bhatia, R Ashwin, Saurabh Kumar, Shardul Thakur, Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja.

I am more than just a cricket lover. I have been breathing this game since I was three, and now I am making a living out of it. Also, FC Barcelona happens to be my second love, and evidently, I prefer Lionel Messi over Ronaldo.
