The 21-year-old right-handed batsman Jagadeesan is hopeful to deliver his best in the trials which is scheduled on Sunday (April 2nd) to take a berth in the fast-paced version of the game, before expressing he would not like to crumble under pressure, as he is eyeing debut in IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after failing to impress Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians in the first two trials.
“I just want to go there and express myself and don’t want to have too many expectations,” Jagadeesan was quoted as saying PTI.
Coimbatore-born wicketkeeper-batsman Narayan Jagadeesan is seeking Royal Challengers Bangalore as his new home for the tenth edition while replacing injured gloveman KL Rahul, who is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery in London.
Known for playing the aggressive brand of cricket, Jagadeesan is in a positive frame of mind to yield the better results, before stating let right things happen as his nerves would be tested during the trials.
Jagadeesan stated his coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar has played a pivotal role for him in the state team before giving credit to the whole staff of the Tamil Nadu for having a splendid season.
“Kanitkar and the others motivated us a lot and made the players believe in themselves. He (Kanitkar) spoke about the importance of mental strength being important apart from technique to succeed,” Jagadeesan remarked.
The rookie Jagadeesan had an outstanding debut season in Ranji Trophy, where he scored 178 runs in four matches at a staggering average of 59.33.
Jagadeesan, who is a die-hard fan of Virat Kohli, has earned the recognition from Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) while playing for Dindigul Dragons, is eagerly waiting to play alongside international stars.
Rising to the occasion, Jagadeesan has also smashed his debut century against Madhya Pradesh in a Group A match in October last year when he scored unbeaten 123 runs while showing the great courage, as the maturity was evident with his varied selection of shots.
However, the IPL contract would definitely make Jagadeesan’s dream come true following the hard work he has had put in since showing passion for the game of cricket.
Jagadeesan has also shown his satisfaction over how the team has performed during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Deodhar Trophy while terming it further as a treasure trove of memories.
“It has been a great run for the team and a special moment for me. I will cherish it forever,” Jagadeesan concluded.
In four List A matches, he has smashed 200 runs at an average of 50 which include three consecutive half-centuries for Tamil Nadu in Deodhar Trophy.
