Dec 22, 2018 at 4:36 PM
While the IPL has grown in popularity in its 10 years, it has been plagued by corruption, spot-fixing and illegal betting. Indian cricket is still reeling from the IPL 2013 spot-fixing. A grim reminder is the absence of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, both serving two-year suspensions, after individuals from its team management were found guilty of indulging in illegal betting.
The IPL spot-fixing also engulfed the careers of talented India pacer S Sreesanth, left-arm spinner Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila, with all three RR players banned for life by the BCCI. The involvement of Gurunath Meiyappan, top CSK official, eventually led to the ouster of his father-in-law, N Srinivasan, as BCCI president.
All of the cricket fanatics, do get to realise after a certain point who will emerge victorious though cricket is an unpredictable game. But, lately, a twitter account has created buzz for posting predictions that are uncannily coming true!
On the 3rd of May, an anonymous twitter handle named Uday Shetty with the picture of Nana Patekar’s role of the same name in the film Welcome; tweeted his personal predictions.
He said Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rising Pune Supergiant will make it to the play-offs of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will be eliminated in the playoffs, and Mumbai Indians will play the finals against Rising Pune Supergiant.
And now the predictions have come unbelievably true! We are well aware of how Kolkata defeated the defending champs after a thrilling suspense match at Bengaluru to play the second Eliminator with Mumbai. Also, Kolkata last night lost against Mumbai which leads Mumbai off to finals to lock horns with Pune, He had also predicted Pune to win this year. The person also uses the word FIXIT at the end which creates more ambiguity.

Earlier in the tournament, he also made other predictions which came true. The ‘Paul the Octopus’ of IPL tweeted that Pune will win their last win encounter against Kings XI Punjab. It was a do-or-die match for both Pune and Punjab, but Kings XI’s batting collapsed massively. He then tweeted saying everything is going by plan.

Recently, police arrested three bookies from Kanpur who was staying in the same hotel where Gujarat Lions’ players were staying. Police are still searching for kingpin bookie Bunty. But Twitter bookie is a new concept that definitely the law has to look upon to keep the Big tournament clean.
