What comes as a big surprise, it has been revealed that Mumbai Indians ‘Icon’ – Sachin Tendulkar – makes more money than his former teammate and mentor of Delhi Daredevils side Rahul Dravid.
This amaze’s more because Dravid is present with the team all the time, during net sessions and games, whereas, Sachin is only seen in Mumbai Indians camp when the side play at home in Mumbai. Sachin wasn’t even present with the team during the second qualifier against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday (May 19th).
As per the reports, it is Sachin who tops the list of highest-paid member of a team management in IPL, whereas, Dravid is second in the list with a pay of Rs. 4.5 Crore.
There is a huge gulf between the pay of Dravid and coaches of other franchises, as both Daniel Vettori, coach of Royal challenger Bangalore and Jacques Kellis, the coach of Kolkata Knight Riders earn the same amount Rs. 3.5 crore/year, whereas, Virender Sehwag, Mahela Jayawardene and Tom moody are placed in the bracket of Rs. 2.3-3 crores. Brad Hodge is a lowest paid coach in the list, as he is being paid an amount of around 70 lakhs for his duties.
Talking about the just coaches, Dravid, whose role as coach of India A and India U19 came to end in March, is the second highest paid coach in India after the Head coach of Indian cricket team, Anil Kumble.
As per the records of BCCI, Dravid was paid an amount of Rs 41,44,737 and 1,89,47,969 in two instalments for his two coaching assignments. On the another hand, Kumble was paid an amount of 48,75,000, 48,74,999 and 48,75,000 in three instalments plus fees for previous assignments as well for the services rendered.
With the Indian cricketers, former players and coach registering their concern regarding low wages with COA, if their demands are met, then Kumble will be entitled to a salary of eight crores, which will make him the highest ever paid the coach in the history of Indian cricket.
Along with that, there will also be an increase in salary of cricketers, whose contract amount have already been doubled by BCCI in the central contract list announced in the month of March earlier.
