IPL 2017: Sanjay Manjrekar Clears The Air After Kieron Pollard's Twitter Face-Off 1

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who is the part of cash-rich Indian Premier League’s tenth edition on Saturday, took to microblogging website Twitter to clarify that he had no grudges with the West Indies Kieron Pollard, who is the part of Mumbai Indians.

“Said “Does he have the range?” Using terms like ‘no brains’ or ‘brainless’ not my style. I can be critical but never insulting,” Manjrekar posted on Twitter.

Manjrekar in his latest series of comments on Twitter stated he never tried to insult the player as he was critical for the swashbuckling all-rounder.

In his another tweet, Manjrekar tweeted and suggested Pollard go through the footage for what he said.

“I would also encourage all those reacting to the Pollard issue to hear the footage & not just take my word for it,” Manjrekar explained on Twitter.

The 51-year-old Manjrekar was in the commentary box when he termed Pollard ‘brainless’ according to the multiple reports while batting higher in the batting order against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Earlier, Manjrekar took to Twitter to post Scroll’s link by terming they’ve quoted him rightly what he said exactly. However, former batsman reiterated that he didn’t use word ‘brainless’.

However, that comment was taken seriously by the West Indies powerful striker Pollard on April 10 to vent his anger on Twitter.

After Pollard played a heroic knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore as he scored 47-ball 70 to see his side Mumbai Indians home when they were reduced to seven for four following Samuel Badree’s hat-trick for his RCB’s debut.

During the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad match, Manjrekar’s fellow commentator Ravi Shastri asked him whether they had a chat following the twitter row.

“Kept a safe distance. Couple of security guards outside the commentary box as well. That was a shocker. The compliment that he paid me just came out of nowhere,” Manjrekar replied to Shastri when Pollard appeared on the giant screen.

Manjrekar played 74 One-day Internationals, 37 Tests for India before enjoying the stint as the cricket expert and commentator in the broadcast.
