2. Suresh Raina – 16 balls – Chennai Super Kings v Kings XI Punjab, 2014:

IPL 2017: Top Five Fastest Fifties In The History Of The Tournament 1

The Indian batsman played one of the finest innings in the history of the tournament but unfortunately, it came in a losing cause. Chasing an improbable 227 in the second qualifier, the two-time champions made a disastrous start, losing Faf du Plessis on the second ball of the innings. However, it was total carnage thereafter as Suresh Raina sent almost every ball out of the park before he was run out in the seventh over. By then, he had helped CSK to score 100 runs in only 6 overs which are still the highest ever Powerplay score in IPL history. Raina had scored 87 runs from only 27 balls with the help of 12 fours and 6 sixes. But the two-time champions could not capitalise on the start given by the southpaw as they could manage 202 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
