IPL 2017: Unchanged Mumbai Indians Bowl, Ishant Replaces Swapnil

An unchanged Mumbai Indians side won the toss and decided to bowl first in their last league stage game at their home. Though the team have already qualified for the next round but still, they need to win this game so as to retain their spot in the top two as other teams are also vying to get a place up on the points table so as to get two chances of making it to the playoffs.

On the other side, Kings XI Punjab, in their eventual knockout game, had one change as Swapnil Singh made way for Ishant Sharma, who has not been in best of his form. Once again, the pressure will be on Ishant as he is yet to come up with a match-winning performance in this season.

This is a new track where both the teams are playing, so to predict an ideal score is quite difficult but yes dew will have its say in the later in the evening.

Here is what both the captains said at the time of the toss –

Maxwell: It’s a semi-final for us, last game was a quarter-final. Big game against Mumbai Indians, they are a quality side and beat us last time around. Haven’t won too many tosses, just four. We too wanted to field, nice to know what total to chase. Just one change, we haven’t had too many Sharma’s in the playing eleven, hence, Ishant comes in for Swapnil.

Rohit: We will field first. Looks like a good track, it’s a new one, we haven’t played this season on this, dew is always a factor, chasing is the way to go. We haven’t secured the top two position, but we are not thinking about it, just want to play a good game and that’s what we have done so far. Will look to continue from where we left last game. No changes for us

Here is the playing XI of both the sides –

Kings XI Punjab (Playing XI): Manan Vohra, Martin Guptill, Shaun Marsh, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Glenn Maxwell(c), Axar Patel, Rahul Tewatia, Matt Henry, Mohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Sandeep Sharma.

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Lendl Simmons, Parthiv Patel(w), Nitish Rana, Rohit Sharma(c), Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Karn Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga.
