IPL 2017: Twitter Reacts As Ben Stokes Becomes The Most Expensive Overseas Buyout In IPL History
Feb 20, 2017 at 12:04 PM
Ben Stokes was heavily tipped by many to get a good amount in the Indian Premier League and as expected the highly-rated England all-rounder was the centre of attraction when the auction began in Bangalore. He had enjoyed an impressive outing during the India tour where he scored 345 runs in the Test series before scoring 120 runs in the three ODIs at an astonishing strike-rate of over 146.
In fact, the England star was in such huge demand that Mumbai Indians made a bid for him even before his name was announced by the auctioneer. Royal Challengers Bangalore then went neck to neck with Mumbai for securing the services of the all-rounder before Delhi Daredevils Kings XI Punjab tried their luck. The race was eventually won by Rising Pune Supergiants.
The 25-year old, whose base price was RS 2 crore, was bought by the Pune-bases outfit for a whopping Rs 14.5 crore.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Stokes’ whopping price:
Just for the fans of @BBL and @thePSLt20 to understand Ben Stokes price of $2.8 mill. His salary is twice the salary cap of each League! 🍾

Ben stokes economy rate as bowler in T20Is is 9.03. Hope he doesn't turn out to be an illusory allrounder for RPS.
