IPL 2017: Twitter Reacts As Karun Nair’s Fifty Propels Daredevils To Respectable Total Against Supergiant
Jan 13, 2019 at 5:30 PM
Delhi Daredevils rode on Karun Nair’s first fifty of this season to recover from a poor start and post a respectable 168 for eight against Rising Pune Supergiant.
Batting first, the Daredevils were in a huge spot of bother when their in-form inform batsman Sanju Samson was run out with just three runs on the board. Six runs later, Shreyas Iyer departed too after edging a Jaydev Unadkat ball to MS Dhoni behind the stumps.
Dhoni, meanwhile, became only the second wicketkeeper after Robin Uthappa to complete 100 dismissals in the history of the tournament.
However, a 74-run partnership between Nair and Rishabh Pant steadied the ship before the latter was dismissed for 36. Marlon Samuels played a handy knock of 27 runs but apart from him none of the other middle-order batsmen could make a significant contribution. However, Nair remained firm from one end and scored 64 runs off 45 balls to steer the `capital-based outfit to a good total.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:

Can't get over the catch by @benstokes38 . Worth every penny that Pune spent on him. @RPSupergiants #DDvRPS #IPL2017

I have enjoyed watching @benstokes38 enormously this year. And this catch was the topping!

Dhoni wanted to be a goalkeeper…he would've done a great job at that too. What a catch, MS. #DDvRPS
