IPL 2017: Twitter Reacts As Mumbai Indians Overcome Rabada-Morris Scare To Beat Delhi Daredevils
High-flying Mumbai Indians once again prove their strong title credentials by defending a low total against Delhi Daredevils at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.
Defending 142, the two-time IPL champions restricted the capital-based outfit to 128 for seven despite heroic performances from Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris to register their fifth win on the trot.
Delhi Daredevils began their chase in the worst possible manner, as Aditya Tare was run-out for a golden duck. The worst was yet to come, as Mitchell McClenaghan ran through the Delhi top order to reduce them to 21 for four.
Soon, the batting side was six down with just 24 runs on the board before Protea duo-Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris began the repair work.
With the pitch providing ample assist for the bowlers, the duo did not go for the fancy shots and instead kept the scoreboard ticking with ones and twos. They finally brought down the equation to 42 runs from the final three overs.
12 runs in the next over gave them some hope before Jasprit Bumrah ended the 91-run stand by dismissing Rabada for 44.
Zaheer Khan’s men needed 25 runs from the final over but managed to collect only 10 runs. Morris remained unbeaten on 52 off 41 balls.
Earlier, the in-form batting line-up of Mumbai Indians was restricted to 142 for eight courtesy of a disciplined bowling performance from Delhi Daredevils. The home side began their innings on a good note with Jos Buttler and Parthiv Patel adding 37 runs for the first wicket but the floodgates opened once the latter was dismissed.
Mumbai kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and was reeling at 84 for five before Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya shared a partnership of 36 runs for the sixth wicket to take their team to a respectable total.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
Bit of an anti-climax at the end but #Daredevils had lost too many wickets. And Rabada couldn't up the run-rate

Hallmark of Mumbai team this year has been a never-say-die approach. Tigerish defence of modest score, superb win

Getting to 100 from 24/6 is itself some sort of a victory.
