Royal Challengers Bangalore’s woes with batting continued as they were by Gujarat Lions in the ongoing match at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. With their season on the line, the runners-up of last year desperately needed a good show in this match especially after being bowled out for 49 in their previous game but their performance showed that they learned little from their mistakes as they were once again bowled out for a low total.
Invited to bat first, the home side made a cautious start with their star openers-Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli- adding 22 runs off 23 balls before the latter’s pull shot went straight into the hands of short fine leg fielder. Three balls later, the runners-up of last year found themselves three down for 22 as Andrew Tye dismissed Gayle and Travis Head on consecutive deliveries. A 36-run stand between AB de Villiers and Kedar Jadhav stopped the rot for a while Ravindra Jadeja ended the dangerous-looking partnership by dismissing the latter for 31. Two runs later, de Villiers was also back in the hut after a horrible mix-up resulted in his run out.
Mandeep Singh and Pawan Negi then steadied the ship with a 40-run stand and helped their team to get to the 100-run mark. But any hopes of making a late recovery was soon quashed as the hosts lost three more wickets inside ten runs to find themselves reeling at 110 for 8. Their innings eventually ended on 134 in the allotted 20 overs.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the innings:

RCB has the best batting line-up on paper.
But unfortunately, these days, we live in a paperless world.— Ramesh Srivats (@rameshsrivats) April 27, 2017

And people will blame Negi, Mandeep. Your big names need to step up, and not play on reputation alone.

Meanwhile Bangalore still stuck in a rut: Gayle, Kohli, ABD & Kedar Jadhav all gone within first 10 overs!
