IPL 2017: Virat Kohli Joins RCB Camp Ahead Of The Season-Opener Against Sunrisers Hyderabad

At a time when their team management is tearing its heart out to select the best possible eleven from an injury-riddled squad, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have got something to cheer about, as their maverick skipper Virat Kohli has joined the team ahead of the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League which begins on April 5.
The India captain has been ruled out of the early stages of the tournament owing to a shoulder injury which he sustained during the Ranchi Test against Australia when he fell awkwardly on his right shoulder while trying to stop a boundary.
The 28-year old had to leave the ground immediately, and although he came out to bat in the second innings he was ruled out of the fourth Test match in Dharamsala.
Speculations were rife that he would recover in time for the IPL, but the BCCI has confirmed the player will miss at least the first week of the cash-rich league before a decision on his availability will be taken.
“The Indian Captain (Virat Kohli) will undergo rehabilitation after sustaining an injury to his right shoulder. His recovery will be assessed in the second week of April to determine an exact return to play date for IPL 2017,” said the BCCI media release.
But the Delhi lad nonetheless has joined the camp and it is bound to up the morale of the team which is missing some of its key players like KL Rahul and AB de Villiers.
While Rahul has been ruled out of the entire season due to a shoulder injury, De Villiers is doubtful for the season due to a back injury.
Meanwhile, Kohli’s arrival was confirmed by a video shared by the RCB on Instagram. The RCB skipper could be seen in a jovial mood, greeting Chris Gayle and other players of the team.

However, the last year’s runners-up will begin their campaign against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 in Hyderabad.
