With the way Dinesh Karthik was smashing the Delhi Daredevils bowlers with ease in the ongoing match at the Feroz Shah Kotla, the capital-based outfit needed a moment of brilliance to get rid of the Gujarat Lions star and that moment was provided by their all-rounder Corey Anderson.
Karthik joined his skipper Suresh Raina in the middle when the Lions were reeling at 10 for 2 in the second over. Another wicket at that point of time would have surely derailed their innings but Karthik shared a stunning 133-run partnership with his skipper in just 72 balls to put his team in a strong position. The big partnership came to an end when Raina was run-out for 77.
However, Raina’s dismissal did not make any difference in Karthik’s batting as he hit the next two balls for a four and a six to race to 65 off just 33 deliveries. With six overs still remaining, the wicketkeeper-batsman would have surely fancied his chances of scoring his maiden IPL ton but his hopes were quashed courtesy a blinder of a catch by Corey Anderson.
With the mid-off inside the circle, Karthik tried to loft a Pat Cummins delivery over the infield. However, he could not get his timing right but the ball was still looking destined to fly over Anderson. However, the New Zealand all-rounder had other ideas as he timed his jump to perfection to complete a sensational one-handed catch. What makes the catch even more spectacular is the fact that the ball had almost gone past him.
Here is a clip of that stunner:
