IPL 2017: Watch: MS Dhoni Advises Steve Smith On Which Bowler To Give The Ball To

Time and again, we have heard from several Rising Pune Supergiant players that how Mahendra Singh Dhoni has played his part from behind the scenes that has helped Steve Smith to lead the team brilliantly in the ongoing season. The former India skipper has been witnessed giving his advise to his predecessor on numerous occasions this season and he chipped in with his invaluable tips once again in the ongoing first qualifier against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede.

Defending a modest 162, the Steve Smith-led side needed a brilliant start and they got it courtesy off a brilliant bowling display by 17-year old off-spinner Washington Sundar. After Lendl Simmons was run-out for only 5 in the fifth over, Sundar accounted for Rohit Sharma (1) and Ambati Rayudu (0) in a space of four overs in the sixth over to leave the home side reeling at 41 for 3. He was not done yet and dismissed the dangerous Kieron Pollard in his next over to reduce the two-time IPL champions to 51 for 4. His figures after three overs were 3 for 12 runs.

With Mumbai under pressure, Smith decided to end Sundar’s spell by giving him one more over. However, just when he was looking to give the ball to the offie, Dhoni was seen giving him some tips following which the Australian handed over the ball to his compatriot Adam Zampa.

Here is a clip of that incident:
