With the Bangalore track very much likely to be a belter of a batting pitch, Delhi Daredevils had their task cut out when Royal Challengers Bangalore’s explosive openers- Chris Gayle and Shane Watson came out to open the innings.
Shane Watson was looking in his elements and was batting on 18 off just 12 balls by the end of the third over. But Gayle, who needed just 31 runs to become the first player to score 10,000 runs in this format, looked like a pale shadow of himself. The Jamaican star was struggling to time the ball and in an desperate attempt to ease the pressure off himself, the southpaw lost his wicket. The wicket fell on the second ball of the 4th over bowled by Chris Morris. The South Africa pacer bowled a full toss and as expected Gayle took his chance and tried to hit it over the top. However, he failed to time his shot and the ball somehow cleared Sanju Samson at mid-off. The ball was looking destined to land safely behind Samson but the Delhi Daredevils star had other ideas as he ran backwards and made a full length dive to complete a superb catch.
Here is a clip of that stunning grab:
