It is just impossible to keep Virat Kohli out of action. Isn’t it? The Royal Challengers Bangalore made a stunning comeback from his one-month-long injury layoff when he scored a brilliant 62 in his first IPL game this season, and the India skipper once again made a big mark in the ongoing match against Rising Pune Supergiant.
This time it did not come with the bat but came during the fielding when his stunning catch ended Rahul Tripathi’s promising innings.
After being invited to bat first, the visiting team went off to a great start with Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi adding 63 runs in just 46 balls for the opening wicket.
Samuel Badree gave the hosts a much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Rahane but Tripathi’s presence was still a big worry for the home side. The right-handed batsman had raced to 31 in just 22 deliveries with the help of three fours and a maximum, but a stunning grab from Kohli ended his knock and helped Bangalore claw their way back into the match.
Tripathi’s shot was looking well shot to reach the boundary, as it had everything – timing, power, elegance but Kohli’s brilliance not only stopped it midway but also sent the batsman packing.
Tripathi had made the room to hit a Pawan Negi delivery inside out and even executed it brilliantly but Kohli made a full-length dive to his wrong side and plucked the ball out of thin air to complete the sensational catch.
Here is a clip of that stunning effort:
