IPL 2017 – We Are Treating Each Game As A Knockout – David Warner

A couple of games ago, the Sunrisers Hyderabad put themselves into a colossal mix after back to back losses against Delhi Daredevils and Rising Pune Supergiant.

The latter one was a little demoralising since it came at home, as the hosts failed to chase a moderate target. In order to put those ghosts behind and step towards the playoffs, they needed to play their A game against the table toppers Mumbai Indians in their final home game this season.

Well, they managed to do just about that, as the David Warner led side comfortably defeated the Mumbai Indians to gain two valuable points. It was a game highlighted by two superb performances from Mohammad Nabi and Shikhar Dhawan.

The Afghan all-rounder was simply superb, as he picked up a wicket while conceding just 13 runs. Dhawan, on the other hand, finished off the game with a fine half-century.

After the win, skipper David Warner was beaming with a smile and lauded the side.

“It did go to plan,” said Warner. “Credit to the bowlers, they bowled well with the pace a bit on the slower side. They gave the batsmen a low total to chase. As Rohit said, the wicket did not change much through the day. Rashid Khan and Kaul started off brilliantly and Bhuvi finished it off for us. Dhawan then took us home along with Moises.”

“We built pressure, did not let them set in and fortunately got quick ones in the bag. We have to win the next game, last year we had to win three in a row to win and lift the trophy. We are treating each one as a knockout and are looking forward to the next. A big thank you to our fans for turning out for us all through,” Warner added.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan was named the Man of the Match and he was content on contributing with a fine knock.

“I was very happy that my name got into the Champions Trophy squad. Davy got out early and I knew that I had to stay out and take the team home. Moises did well to play I have been feeling good, I was working on my technique and my consistency. All the work I put in with my love and heart is paying off now,” said Dhawan.
