In what comes as a shocking news for Delhi Daredevils, Quinton De Kock – star wicketkeeper batsman – has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an injury on his right index finger. Though, de Kock will participate in third and the final Test against New Zealand at Hamilton, but will miss the cash-rich league as he would require four to six weeks to fully recover from the blow in order to get fit in time for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and the ODI series (against England), that precedes the tournament.
It has been learnt that Cricket South Africa (CSA) has ruled Quinton de Kock out of the T20 league, so they can render his services for the Mini World Cup.
His exclusion is a big loss for Delhi Daredevils as he was their best batsman in the last edition of IPL, as he scored a total of 445 runs in 13 games at an average of 37.02 and with a strike rate of 136.08.
Quinton de Kock is the third overall and second Delhi Daredevils player to be ruled out of IPL as earlier, Mitchell Starc (RCB) and JP Duminy (DD) pulled out of the league.
Delhi Daredevils will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first game of their tourney at Bengaluru on April 8.
